Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Your Car Data and your purchase of vehicle-history reports. By using the site or buying a report, you agree to them. Please read them carefully.

1. About us

Your Car Data is operated by ELLABYTE LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17043403), registered address 1 Milnyard Square, Orton Southgate, Peterborough, PE2 6GX, United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@yourcardata.com.

2. Our service

We provide vehicle-information reports based on a registration you supply. A report may include MOT history, mileage records and anomaly flags, tax and specification details, and — where you buy the full report — provenance information such as stolen, write-off, outstanding finance, keeper and plate history. Data is drawn from official and industry sources including the DVLA, the DVSA and our vehicle-data supplier, Vehicle Data Global Limited.

3. The nature and accuracy of the data

A Your Car Data report is an information service, not a mechanical inspection, valuation or guarantee of a vehicle’s condition, safety or worth. It is one tool to help you decide — not a substitute for viewing the vehicle, an independent inspection, or a test drive.

The data is compiled from third-party and official sources. While we take care to present it accurately, we do not create it and cannot guarantee it is complete, current or error-free. Records may be missing, delayed or incorrect at source. You should not rely on a report as the sole basis for a purchase decision, and you use the information at your own risk, subject to your legal rights and the rest of these terms.

4. Price and payment

The price of each report is shown before you pay. Payment is taken at the time of purchase through our payment provider Stripe. We do not store your card details. All prices are in pounds sterling. ELLABYTE LTD is not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is charged.

5. Delivery of your report

Once payment is confirmed, your report is generated and made available to you on screen and by email to the address you provide. You are responsible for giving us a correct email address. Your report reflects the records held at the date it is generated, and you can re-open it from your emailed link for 90 days from purchase, after which the link expires.

6. Your right to cancel, and refunds

Your report is digital content delivered to you immediately after purchase. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, by asking us to provide it immediately — which you confirm at checkout by ticking the box to request immediate delivery — you agree to lose your 14-day right to cancel once delivery has begun. This means that, once a report has been generated and made available to you, it is generally non-refundable.

This does not affect your legal rights. If a report is not delivered, is faulty, or is not as described, you may be entitled to a remedy under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If something has gone wrong, contact hello@yourcardata.com and we will put it right.

7. Acceptable use

You agree to use Your Car Data lawfully and for your own legitimate purposes. You must not resell, systematically extract, scrape or bulk-download reports or data, compile it into or use it to build any database, directory or index, misuse another person’s information, or use the service in any way that breaches applicable law or the terms of our data suppliers.

You confirm that you are at least 18 years old. Our service is intended for use by consumers resident in the United Kingdom.

8. Intellectual property

The Your Car Data name, branding, website and report layouts are owned by us or our licensors. The underlying vehicle data belongs to its respective sources. You may use a report to evaluate a vehicle for your own purposes. You may not resell, redistribute, republish, or systematically extract the report or its underlying data, or present it as your own product. Business or trade use may be subject to separate terms.

9. Third-party data

Vehicle data is provided to us by our supplier Vehicle Data Global Ltd, drawing on official and industry sources. We display it in accordance with our supplier’s terms. We name our data sources where we are required to, but we do not use their names, logos or trademarks in a way that implies their endorsement of, or a direct relationship with, Your Car Data.

10. Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on a report or from inaccuracies in third-party data, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in connection with any report is limited to the amount you paid for that report.

11. Governing law

Our service is directed at customers in the United Kingdom. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published on this site at the time you buy.

13. Complaints

If something has gone wrong, please email hello@yourcardata.com. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within a reasonable time.
