Questions
Is this MOT check free?
Yes. MOT status and full MOT history are free for any registration, with no account or sign-up.
How far back does MOT history go?
MOT history covers tests in Great Britain since 2005. A car under three years old won't have any yet, because its first MOT isn't due until its third birthday.
When is a car's first MOT due?
When it's three years old, then every year after that. You can have an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date.
What do MOT advisories mean?
They're problems the tester noticed that weren't bad enough to fail, often something wearing out. The same advisory year after year can mean it was never fixed. See MOT advisories explained.
Can I drive a car without an MOT?
Only to a pre-booked MOT test, or to or from somewhere to be repaired. Otherwise you can be fined up to £1,000.
