Can you check an electric car's battery health?

No vehicle history check can measure battery health, ours included. Ask the seller for a battery health report from a dealer or the car's app, and check the range shown on a full charge looks reasonable for its age.

What should I check when buying a used EV?

The battery warranty left, the range on a full charge, that the charging cables are included, that it charges on a public charger, and the same history checks as any car: stolen, write-off and finance.

How long are electric car battery warranties?

It varies by manufacturer, and is often longer than the warranty on the rest of the car. The full report shows the battery warranty from new for the exact model, so you can work out what's left.

Do electric cars need an MOT?

Yes. Like other cars, an electric car needs its first MOT at three years old, then every year. Its MOT history is in the free check.
